Festive decorations

What is Chinese New Year without red, festive decorations? Red and gold are the two most ultimate color to represent the occasion. The chinese characters written on the banners are all about welcoming prosperity and wealth. Most people like to hang the banners or other little decorations in their house to bring in good fortune for the new year.

It seems to me that the Chinese are very supersticious.
What is the meaning of the red color?

The older folks are, not the young ones though. Red symbolises prosperity and good luck.
