NDP preview fireworks

Sufang and I went down to the waterfront area to capture the fireworks of the National Day Parade Preview. It rained heavily in the afternoon and was also very cloudy at night. There wasn't any wind to blow the smoke away, so most of my shots were 'smoky' =( This is the best of all my shots I think. However, I had to crop it. Hope I get better shots at the fireworks festival next weekend.

Recycling bins

I was standing under a tree, taking shade as I wait for the traffic light to turn green. And suddenly, I have an urge to take a pic. I myself don't really know why. Maybe it's the variety of colours that attracted me.

I couldn't upload any photos yesterday due to connection problems. Now, I'm dead beat. Work is tiring... mentally drained. This is what I took at Pulau Ubin, one of the stopovers for cyclists.

Well, this is one of my tries at street photography. I saw this couple from far and the opportunity struck when both were looking in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, the man seemed to have sensed my camera at him and quickly turned his body resulting in the slight motion blur. hehe....must try harder... it's so difficult to take pictures on the street!!

I was very sick yesterday. I slept at 8 plus and so I didn't post any photo yesterday. Sigh... Now, I'm feeling better. 2 days of rest is great! I don't have to face those 'little rascals' at school. Haha.. Here's a photo I took when I was in Hong Kong. Lots of people jaywalk. Although the road is narrow, vehicles drive really fast. Must be careful.

Found this boat tied near to the ferry terminal at Pulau Ubin. I guess the owner painted his/her identification number on the boat to prove ownership.

Shot at the northern side of Pulau Ubin, facing Malaysia. The authorities have set up fences in the water to prevent illegal immigrants from swimming over to Singapore.

pilgrimage on bikes

It's interesting to see the bicycles lined up in such a manner, as if they were making a pilgrimage. Well, the path actually leads up to a small chinese temple hidden behind the trees.

Quarry

This is a shot of an abandoned quarry on the island of Pulau Ubin. We couldn't get any closer due to safety reasons. The authorities have fenced off the entire area. I managed to find this hole with the leaves and rocks as a frame. Come take a peek!

hmmm.... okay, what fruit is this? I can only think of bananas. Not ready to be eaten of course! But the green makes it so tempting and it looks so succulent!

main village

This is the main village of Pulau Ubin where people gather for various activities. On the left, there is a bicycle shop where we rented our bikes for 4 bucks a day. The umbrella stands at the back are the drinks stalls where you can try the fresh coconuts for just 2 bucks. There's a chinese temple behind and three different seafood shops in the background.

bumboats

These are the bumboats we took in order to get to Pulau Ubin. The jetty is in the background. It has been renovated and has changed from wooden structures to concrete buildings equipped with air-condition, shops and nice, clean restrooms. hmmm....I still reminise the previous jetty though I'm really grateful of the clean and big restrooms now. The ride to Ubin is about 10 minutes and it only costs $2 per person.

rustic Singapore

Can you believe that this picture was taken in Singapore? Well, not the mainland Singapore of course! I went down to Pulau Ubin today with Fang. [Pulau is a malay word for island, while Ubin is the name] This is the only remaining place where you can use the word "rustic". However, I can see that Pulau Ubin is slowly undergoing changes. I seriously hope that it won't end up like a concrete jungle. We need the natural green, not potted plants. Meanwhile, I shall preserve it's beauty in photographs here.

Yao Ming and Me

Well, this is the first picture of ME here. haha.... decided to put up this funny picture. Of course, this picture is not taken by me. But I had set up my camera on a tripod so all my mum had to do was to press the button. I guess this guy is easily recognisable everywhere. That's right, its Yao Ming, taken at the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Hong Kong.

father and sons

This is the first family-related photograph here. It's taken at the Jurong Bird Park. I was coming down from the panorail station when I saw this father and his two sons sitting by the pond. The two kids were very curious to find out more about the koi fishes. You only need to pay a few cents to buy the fish feed from the box by the pond. Gosh, those kois are really lucky and fat. erm.... do you think the contrast is too great? I'm a little disturbed by the bright areas...don't know how to make it better.
