Haha.... that's my first response when I saw the Statue of Liberty in this park that's bursting with Chinese culture. What a contradiction. I thought it would be more balanced to put up a corny photo due to my previous post. heh..

What happens when you go to hell

It took me a long time to decide if I should put this up. Really, it's not exactly a pleasant photo... Well, this is just one of the ten courts of hell. The man in the middle is the judge and the one on the right is probably the sidekick. The 'victims' or 'wrongdoers' are being punished by the two methods shown. need me explain more? The pic's gross enough. heh...

"Di Zang Wang"

This is a picture of the Di Zang Wang, also known as the Ksitigarbha Buddha, with his entourage. He is in charge of the Ten Courts of Hell. He wears a Buddhist robe and a monk’s hat and sits on a mythical animal called Yue Jing, a cross between a tiger and a leopard. There are some red joss sticks below as well.

Guanyin

She is Guanyin, the goddess of mercy. The evening sun enhances the glow on her.

The Haw Par spirit

The "Haw Par Spirit" : Never forget your alma mater, and be hardworking.

Tiger icon

This tiger is the icon of Haw Par Villa. It is situated outside the gate I posted yesterday. The scaly thing below is actually a gigantic snake. I believe it's roaring at it. This photo was taken in the late afternoon sun.

Haw Par Villa

Starting from today, I'm going to put up a series of photographs I've recently taken at the Haw Par Villa. It has many years of history and much meaning behind its construction. To start, this is a photograph of the main entrance. The "Haw" and "Par" comes from the names of the two bothers responsible for its construction. They were the last chinese characters of their names, which actually means tiger and leopard respectively.

It's rare to find such places in Singapore nowadays. It's taken beside the Singapore-Malaysia Railway track in Bukit Timah.

I woke up at 6.30am this morning. It's the usual time when I'd wake up for work. BUT I don't have to work today!! sigh... so I decided to pass my time by taking pictures around the house. Took this picture off the coffee table. It was cluttered with alot of things. Oh, I also thought that the title of the prime news is very catchy. The PM of Japan apologized!

I took this through the glass tank. I wish it could be sharper but I thought the prawn on the plant makes a good composition. And the prawn is so clear that you can see the intestines.

During my 2 hour lunch break, I always go to the Jurong Regional Library to relax, nap or read a magazine. I like to sit by the window and admire the scenery outside. This is what I saw earlier this afternoon.

Took this on a surprisingly quiet Sunday. I don't think it would be nice to have an empty road in front of the shopping centre. So, I waited for a bus to pass by.

White Angelfish

I was sitting beside the tank all day, with my camera. I waited and waited for a chance. phew... took a number of pictures. This is one of the sharpest. U can see the translucent skin and fins etc..I was lucky. This angelfish is quite a slow swimmer. I have another colored angelfish in the tank. Unfortunately, I've not been able to get a single sharp photo of it. He swims real fast. Nevertheless, I'll keep on trying!

I just got a mini aquarium at home. Freshwater though. Spent a lot of time trying to to take sharp and nice photos of my new pets. Really, do you know how tough it is to take pictures of them? This is the sharpest of all my prawn photos. The prawn is so clear that I can see right through it!

This is actually a photo of the evening sky. I happened to just look up and was immediately mesmerized by the clouds. Beautiful, isn't it. I've always loved clouds ever since I first started my 10 years of education in geography. Did some editing by changing the hue. I think it looks just as nice. I will post the original version sometime later.

Went for a drink with my friends yesterday. This is a shot I took last night at one of the bars located at Chjimes. Shan't go there again because it has bad air conditioning. Took this without a tripod and it wasn't very sharp. I really should get a tripod soon. Otherwise, none of my night photos will be sharp. However, its silly to bring a tripod to a bar just to take pictures. haha... joking.

My little cousin came over to my house for a short while. took this photo at the door. Although it's not exactly a perfect shot, with a bit of motion blur. I still like it very much. Her smile was so natural. And the depth of the corridor behind her. I have other sharper photos of her. Will post them in the future. I must take more photos of this little beauty. She's lovely!

oh dear, it's raining again...
I don't want to be a fair weather photographer. But I haven't had any idea how to take pictures while it's raining heavily. I think I'll have to be at some strategic location or maybe when I'm feeling emotional. i don't know. I had planned to take photographs of the Chingay floats yesterday, but didn't manage to go in the end. And now, it's raining. =( when is it going to stop?

rainbow fan

I took a few shots of the rotating fan of my brother's pc. They all turned up well and I was unable to make the decision to post which photograph. Took a long while staring at the photographs before I finalised my decision. I may still post the others though.
[note: I just realised that I could have enhanced the visual experience of looking at my photgraphs with dark background by adding a gray or white coloured border. How stupid I was... heh..]
